The upside is that you can build panels for as little as $200 instead of the $2,000 plus that you would need to purchase readymade solar panels. If you have the technical skills or the "can do" attitude required to make this project work for you and your family, it is a great way to save money on solar panels as well as a great bonding experience for the entire family.
